Elværkssøen lies to the north of the town of Brande, just beyond the ring road. It is a beautiful small lake lined with trees enclosed within a patch of natural deciduous woodland. It shines a beautiful blue on sunny days. It supports a rich variety of bird life; this attracts nature lovers and walkers. There is an old hydro-electric power station here that dates from early in the twentieth century. Its traditional machinery can be seen through a glass viewing panel.
