Elsted Church lies a few kilometres to the north of the city of Aarhus. It is late Romanesque in style, although the porch and “stilted tower”, typical of the Djursland region, are later medieval. An ancient fresco has been discovered in this church. It dates back to the thirteenth century, but is unfortunately in poor condition. However, the image is clearly of the coronation of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
