The Dybbøl Banke Battlefield Centre commerates and educates on the historic battle of 1864, the last major conflict fought on Danish soil, after which the Danes were forced to concede Schleswig to Prussia. It is a short bus ride away from Sønderborg station. It is particularly aimed at children and guides help to explain the exhibits, which include rebuilt trenches and moats. There are multimedia high-technology displays recreating details of the bloody battle. The museum has a shop.
