The Dragon fountain lies in the Town Hall Square, probably the busiest, most bustling spot in Copenhagen, and is a significant landmark. It was originally supposed to represent the traditional medieval myth of Saint George slaying the dragon and was commissioned from celebrated sculptor J. Skovgaard. However, the "dragon" was eventually replaced by a bull in the completed work that was erected in 1907. Skovgaard claimed the idea came to him while he was looking at his wallpaper.
