The Darning Needle is one of a series of art works around Odense inspired by the fairy tales of Hans Christian Andersen. It stands in the centre of Odense, near the Magasin Department Store. Hans Christian Andersen was born in Odense and lived here during his childhood. The sculpture is about eight feet high and is carved from granite. The Darning Needle was created by sculptor Frede Troelsen. It was unveiled in 1988.
