The Danish Photographic Museum was established when local photographic dealer Sigfrid Løvstad donated his personal collection in 1983; it was supplemented when the National Museum gave much of its collection the next year. Its patron is HRH Prince Joachim. The museum includes a mocked up photographic studio from 1900, numerous exhibits of classic cameras, early photographs and daguerreotypes and photographs by Hans Christian Andersen. There are three-dimensional holograms and a gallery showcasing current photographers. Aspects of the museum are designed to appeal to children. The museum has a shop.
