The Danish museum of art and design is situated on Bredgade, just beyond St Ansgar’s Catholic Church. As Denmark has a high reputation in this field, it is unsurprisingly an impressive facility. It was founded in 1890 on the site of an old hospital. The museum deals with the design of furniture, ceramics, textiles and glassware, and its collections are grouped into historical periods. It also deals with industrial design in some detail. It has an extensive library and conducts guided tours. It has a museum and shop.
