The Danish Jewish Museum was the first National Museum in Denmark dedicated to the history of an ethnic minority. Architect Daniel Libeskind called his conception “Mitzvah”, or “good deeds”, partly in acknowledgement of the Danes’ heroic rescue of the Jewish population during World War II. The museum explores cultural, social and religious aspects of Jewish life in Denmark over the past 400 years. With an international audience in mind, most material is presented in both Danish and English.
