Long established as a military town owing to its strategic position, it is appropriate that Aalborg should host this excellent garrison museum. Its importance is reflected in the three stars awarded the attraction by the Danish tourist authorities. The museum’s particular focus is on Danish defence in this century, including the German’s use of the garrison as a key air force base during World War Two. It includes many opportunities for visitors to actively experience the exhibits – handling and climbing inside them is encouraged where possible.
