The Copenhagen City Museum is situated just to the north of the inner city. The displays are well-designed, modern and accessible. The building dates from the 18th century. Special exhibitions are regularly put on - check the excellent website for details. There is a special focus on the life on Søren Kierkegaard, the philosopher and founder of existentialism. The museum is situated on the fringes of the lively area of Vesterbro, and there are lots of pleasant cafes and bars nearby.
