Clausholm Castle lies in the countryside a few miles to the south east of Randers. The magnificent palace dates from the late seventeenth century but had its heyday in the eighteenth, when it was owned by King Frederik IV. It is a masterpiece of Baroque design, full of beautiful furniture. It also has wonderful grounds that the visitor is welcome to enjoy. It is currently owned by key members of the Danish Royal Court, who have extensively restored it. There is a cafeteria here. The fountains are a popular attraction.
