Citadel
Kastellet 68, 2100 København Ø - Denmark

Map

The Citadel is a charming military fort, constructed in the seventeenth century and designed by Dutch architect Henrik Ruse. Although it has something of a toytown feel, do not be deceived, although open to the public, this is still a working military barracks and there are rules to be observed as you stroll through. The Citadel contains a nineteenth century windmill in Dutch style, which still works and whose sails revolve once a year. Walking, or jogging, along the ramparts by the harbour is popular on fine days.
