Svendborg castle mound is what remains of a castle that was burnt down in the sixteenth century. It was destroyed by the citizens of the town in a rebellion. The castle itself had stood for about three hundred years previously. Some remains of the original castle remain, and the site is open to visitors. A model of the original castle is on display. The latest archaeological exhibits from the site are also on show. The mound is one of the largest of its type in Denmark.
