Bølgen is a monumental sculpture that is located in the centre of Ringkøbing, near the town hall. It was created by Danish sculptor Niels Aage Schmidt. The name is translated as "The Wave" in English. The piece was designed to mark the five hundred and fiftieth anniversary of the town’s being granted a municipal charter. The sculpture was unveiled in August 1993, on the anniversary itself, by Prince Henrik, Queen Margrethe’s husband, during an official royal visit to the town.
