The Beck Monument is prominent among those advocates of freedom and democracy that figure in the Danish national consciousness commemorated on Himmelbjerg, or “Heaven’s Hill” whose tower is symbolic of the nation’s Constitution. Vilhelm Beck’s monument was unveiled in 1929. The Reverend Beck organised the Religious Society for the Home Mission. The inscription on the monument contains a quotation from St. Paul’s letter to the Corinthians.
