Ballerup Regional Museum is a local museum dedicated to the history of this outlying district, once a seperate village. It covers the history of the area from earliest times to the present day. The museum is situated in two former farmhouses dating from the nineteenth century, and in some of the rooms of these, authentic furnishing and details are retained as they would have been more than a hundred years ago. Of particular interest is the collection of personal items belonging to former Empress of Russia Maria Fyodorevna, who survived the Bolshevik revolution and returned to live in her native Denmark. She resided in Ballerup for 18 years.
