ARoS (the Art Museum) is located in the centre of Aarhus and is a highly attractive modern facility. With a floor space of 18 000 square metres, it is one of the largest art galleries in Northern Europe. The works on display are modern, though not exclusively contemporary. The collection begins with the Danish Golden Age of the early nineteenth century. The museum hosts major international exhibitions on a temporary basis. AroS has a shop and café. Its restaurant affords good views of the city.
