Ansgar’s Church

The cruciform church dedicated to St. Ansgar is situated in the heart of Odense. It lies near the Munke Mose park, next to the cemetery. Its narrow high tower, which rises to a point like a spire, is a familiar landmark in the town. The architect was Niels Jacobsen. It was consecrated in 1902. Its particularly attractive features include a sandstone relief by Thomas Bærentzen and a beautiful gilded altarpiece by renowned sculptor Axel Poulsen.
