The memorial to the famous poet Ambrosius Stub lies in the former churchyard of St. Catherine’s Church in Ribe, now called St. Catherine’s Place. The monument was placed here in 2003 and was created by Per Kirkeby. Ambrosius Stub was born in the southwest of the island of Fyn and lived during the first half of the eighteenth century. He is particularly known for writing the lyrics of hymns. He spent the final six years of his life in Ribe, where he was buried.
