Amagertorv lies roughly at the halfway point on the long pedestrianised shopping street of Strøget between the Town Hall Sqaure and Kongens Nytorv. Its centre features a famous stork fountain, illuminated at night, which provides a popular meeting place for locals and visitors. Amagertorv is a lively square where you can witness a huge variety of street performers, peaceful protesters and buskers at all times of year. If you enjoy watching the endlessly varied and entertaining Danish world go by you could do worse than take a seat and enjoy a (pricey) coffee, beer or light snack at Café Norden or Europa, where you can sit outside Paris-style, in anything but the depths of winter.
