The small island of Amager is linked to the old city by the “long bridge”. It is now an integral part of Copenhagen, home to the beach and the airport, and many do not realise it is an island at all. The fascinating small museum tells the history of the island. The particular focus of the museum is the Dutch farmers’ immigration to the island, which began in the 1500s. The museum is particularly keen on activities and workshops that make it accessible to children. It is well-organised and enjoys extensive commercial sponsorship.
