Aalborghus Castle lies in the centre of Aalborg. It was built as a governor’s mansion in the sixteenth century by King Christian III. The large attractive timbered house also served as a storage space for the large amount of goods that served as taxes in kind. The public are free to enter the courtyard and garden at any time while regular admission is granted to the dungeons and underground passages that are guaranteed to delight imaginative children.
