Aal Church is located near the centre of Oksbøl, a small town between Blåvand and Varde. The church dates from around 1200. It has been extended several times. The last major addition was the tower, which dates from around the time of the Reformation. The church is particularly famous for its interior which contains early Romanesque wall frescoes. These were discovered and restored in the late nineteenth century. They include depictions of the patron saint of the church, St. Nicholas.
